July 9th, 2129: Born in Kyoto, Japan. She was the
second child in a family of three.

Sato showed from an early age that she was
gifted. Most of her childhood
was spent with private tutors, learning languages.
She did not have the
opportunity to become very close to anyone. To her,
it was often normal
to spend an entire day virtually alone. This feeling
of isolation stayed with
her her entire life; even as an adult surround by
other people, she still felt
alone. The reason she studies languages is to
try to make connections to
other people and cultures. The last person she was
really close to was her
grandfather, Michio Sato. "Exile"

When in the 12th grade she had a penpal in
Brisbane, Australia. For her it was
a window into a world with strange sounding names.

Number: SA-037-0198-CL.

In her second month of Starfleet training, Hoshi
was discharged for breaking her CO's arm, over a dispute
about a weekend poker game which she had organised
for new recruits. Starfleet allowed her back in on
probation as they needed language experts.
"Observer Effect" [ENT]
Hoshi spends three years in Starfleet training,
and graduates second in her class. She takes zero-gee
training, and though she doesn't like it, she "bites
her lip" and gets through it. No problems were
recorded in her transcript. On both her
training tours she had portside quarters. She is cleared on
the operation of EM sidearms and Class 3 pulse
rifles.
"Fight or Flight" [ENT]
Hoshi has good memories of the pizza from
Fiorella's on Fountain Street in San Fransisco.
"Exile" [ENT]
Hoshi takes a leave of absence from Starfleet to
teach at Amazon University in Brazil.
"Broken Bow" [ENT]
Hoshi, along with two other teachers, once took a
hydroskim ride to a small tributary of the
Amazon to see the wild life, such as pink dolphins,
sloths, and more specifically all kinds of snakes,
including anacondas. They gave her the creeps, like
the aliens they've met on Enterprise.
"Fight or Flight" [ENT]
Before leaving Earth she had learned 38
languages.
"Two Days and Two Nights" [ENT]
2151: While a university professor in Brazil, she took
a commission aboard the Enterprise as communications
officer to have the chance to experience new alien
languages, in particular: Klingon. She was somewhat
leery of travelling on the ship especially at warp
speed.
"Broken Bow" [ENT]
She was Archer's first choice for the position
aboard NX-01.
"Fight or Flight" [ENT]
When the Klingon courier Klaang regained consciousness aboard
Enterprise en route to the Klingon homeworld
of Q'onoS, it was her job to not only glean any
information that might help the mission, but to calm him
down and let him know he was not among enemies.
Later, once Klaang was rescued from the Suliban and
returned to Q'onoS, Hoshi was able to facilitate
enough communication between the Klingons and Archer to
complete the mission without incident.
"Broken Bow" [ENT]
She had trouble sleeping when assigned quarters
on the Enterprise on E-deck, starboard section 5 because
on both her training tours she had portside
quarters. - so she asked the captain and receiveed permission
to switch with ensign Porter in order to be on
the port side of the ship.
"Fight or Flight" [ENT]
It appears that what she ended up with is actually a
room with no windows.
"Fallen Hero" [ENT]
Not long after, Enterprise made the grisly discovery of a ship
filled with alien corpses, drained of fluids.
Hoshi's immediate reaction was terror, which
disturbed her in terms of her own professionalism. She
considered the possibility that she simply isn't cut
out for deep space exploration, even coming to the
point of asking Archer for a transfer off the
ship. But she managed to overcome her fears and
insecurities enough to re-board the eerie ship and
decipher the controls to send out a distress call to the
victims' fellow beings. When they arrived, she was
able to break the language barrier and make first-
contact with this new race, the Axanar, and
communicate that humans were not responsible for the
massacre, aiding in establishing favorable relations
with another new race.
"Fight or Flight" [ENT]
Along with her communications duties, Hoshi is also able to keep an
eye on other vital
systems. For example, when the Suliban Silik had infiltrated Enterprise
disguised as a
religious pilgrim, it was Hoshi who noticed when he attempted to bypass
the lockout
codes in Shuttlepod Launch Bay One.
"Cold Front" [ENT]
Implicitly trusted by Captain Archer, Hoshi was entrusted to do some
research into the
private life of Malcolm Reed, specifically his favorite foods for a
planned surprise birthday
celebration. She methodically approached the task like a detective,
discreetly contacting
his loved ones and even subtly trying to get information directly out
of Reed, which led
to a temporary misunderstanding, as Reed misinterpreted her enquiries
as romantic
overtures. In the end, thanks to help from Dr. Phlox, she successfully
was able to
deduce Reed's favorite food (pineapple) and satisfy Archer's request.
Sato misses cooking and has a hotplate in her
quarters. She can make enchiladas.
"Silent Enemy" [ENT]
She handles the ship's mail. Dr. Phlox is
teaching her to speak Denobulan.
"Dear Doctor" [ENT]
Trains with Lt. Reed for phase pistol
clearance. Hit-to-miss ratio is still below 50%. She didn't
have
much trouble with the EM-33 as compared to phase
pistols. When she was stranded along with Reed
and T'Pol aboard a derelict Klingon vessel sinking
slowly into a Class-9 gas giant, she was rattled, but
with T'Pol's help was able to maintain her cool
enough to focus on the task at hand: that of deciphering
the ship's logs, controls and readouts so that they
could get the ship running under its own power.
"Sleeping Dogs" [ENT]
Hoshi's skills were applied to communicating with a
strange creature that had taken up residence in a Shuttlepod Bay and
had trapped
several crew members, including Captain Archer. In addition to
attempting to learn a
new language, the organism communicated almost telepathically, forcing
Hoshi to
improvise a solution, saving not only the crew members, but the
creature as well.
"Vox Sola" [ENT]
Hoshi donated the use of her personal quarters to a visiting Vulcan
ambassador.
"Fallen Hero" [ENT]
She felt she was beginning to rely too heavily on
the UT when she went to Risa, and determined that
she would take some time to practice her languages
and perhaps pick up some new ones. At this time
Hoshi knows "about 40" languages. She claims
never to have encountered one she couldn't learn,
although it took "months" to master the conjugations
of Klingon.
"Two Days and Two Nights" [ENT]
Phlox is currently teaching her Denobulan; according to his wife
Feezal, Hoshi's accent is very good.
"Stigma" [ENT]
Hoshi says Dr. Phlox has taken care of her on many occasions, so
when Phlox was infected by the
mysterious nanoprobes from hostile cybernetic
beings, Hoshi offered to keep him company while he
worked on the
cure.
"Regeneration" [ENT]
2152: During her first experience with the transporter,
Hoshi imagined she was starting to disappear
after returning to Enterprise, and that aliens were
attempting to destroy the ship. While attempting to
stop them, she materialized on Enterprise and
discovered she had imagined it all whilst being the caught
in the pattern buffer for several seconds.
"Vanishing Point" [ENT]
2152, Aug 12-15: When chef became ill, Sato eagerly
took on the galley duties. She passed on the orange
"Minaran spinach" picked up on Risa, which the crew
considers inedible, and instead elected to make
one of her grandmother's specialties [later
specified as: oden]. Because she was being affected by the
radiation from a nearby black hole, she became
obsessed with the preparation of this dish.
"Singularity" [ENT]
After the ship refit, it appears that Hoshi has been moved into
quarters which are twice as big, and now
has windows
again.
"Exile" [ENT]
October 2153: Sato was telepathically contacted by
Tarquin, an exile residing on a nearby planet. He
told Sato that she had a unique mind, one of a few
that he could connect to on a deep level. He tried to
force her to stay with him in exchange for providing
Enterprise with information on the Xindi, but she
refused, despite his claims that he understood her
loneliness better than anyone ever could.
"Exile" [ENT]
February 2154: Hoshi was kidnapped by Commander
Dolim. The Reptilian Xindi used neural parasites on
her to compel her to decipher the Aquatic language
launch and activation codes on the Xindi weapon
designed to destroy Earth. She fought bravely
against them, scrambling the codes further and even
attempting to kill herself to prevent them from
gaining access to the codes. The Reptillians eventually
forced her to comply and she decrypted the
codes. Hoshi was subsequently rescued by a team of MACOs
led by Major
Hayes.
"The Council" [ENT], "Countdown" [ENT]
2154: Although she was still sufferring from the
effects of the parasites, Captain Archer insisted that she
accompany his team in their attempt to destroy the
weapon. She was successful in decrypting Degra's
schematics for the weapon and the inversion sequence
for its reactor, which made it possible to destroy
it before it destroyed
Earth.
"Zero Hour" [ENT]
Some months after the ship's return to Earth, Hoshi was infected
with a silicon based virus while part
of a landing party on a planet's surface, looking
for salvage amongst Klingon waste. While quarantined
in the decontamination chamber and in a delirous
state, she displayed skill in decrypting the locking
sequence for doors on the entire deck, causing a
ship-wide quarantine breach alert. Although Hoshi
initially died due to the virus, she was cured by
two Organian observers, who were watching the
crew's reaction to the
virus.
"Observer Effect" [ENT]
2161: After the Federation dedication ceremony Hoshi
was planning to take a couple weeks to attend
the receptions, including about a week to clear out
the linguistics database before returning to Brazil.
"These are the Voyages" [ENT]
ca. 2166: Hoshi's rank at the time of her retirement
was Lieutenant Commander. After leaving Starfleet,
in her late thirties Sato created the linguacode

2165: In an alternate timeline where Earth was destroyed

Tragically, Hoshi and her family were among the four thousand
people who died on Tarsus Four in 2246 when a food shortage
caused by an exotic fungus threatened the colony's population.
Governor Kodos ordered the deaths of Sato and the others in
order to save the rest of the colony. She was buried in Kyoto
