Appearance -
The Illyrians are a humanoid species native to the Delphic Expanse.
Ships - It has technology partially
compatible to Starfleet's and it is not sufficiently
protected against the effects of the Expanse.
It is outwardly similar to a Mazarite
Warship.
History:
The Starfleet vessel Enterprise was assisted in its repair
efforts by an Illyrian starship that had been disabled
by an anomaly field in 2154. Enterprise helped the Illyrians in turn.
They were unwilling, however, to part with
their warp coil because not having it would mean a three-year journey
home. Jonathan Archer and the MACOs boarded the Illyrian craft and stole their warp coil.

Individuals of Note: The Illyrian Captain
(Casey Biggs) -
The commander of an Illyrian ship
that was heavily damaged by an anomaly field in the
Delphic Expanse.
The Enterprise had received a distress call from the vessel, and hoping
that each ship might be able to help the other,
Archer met with the
Illyrian captain. When
Archer proposed to trade a warp coil from the
Illyrian ship for trellium-D
to protect against
the anomalies, the Illyrian captain refused. He
sympathized with Archer, but would not
jeopardize the lives of his crew. Without
a warp coil, it would take three years
for his vessel to reach the
Illyrian homeworld and they might not survive the journey.
Archer and an
away team boarded the alien vessel and stole the
warp coil, leaving behind extra food, supplies and trellium-D
as
compensation. The Illyrian captain confronted Archer and asked how he
could do such a thing.
Archer responded that he had no choice.
